Fisheries in Gran Canaria, and therefore fishing in the sea strip integrated within the Biosphere Reserve, are marked by its artisanal and sustainable character. The fleet uses traditional gears and is made out of small length boats that, with two or three fishermen on board, set out at dawn and come back at midday reassuring the sustainable nature of this activity in the island. Hook and line, trap, net, pots are some of the fishing techniques used. During the tuna season many stop using these gears to catch the tuna with rods, one by one.
